This is how the rule of half your age works. Divide your age by 2, then add 2. How much of your monthly pre-tax income you should put toward your pension is represented here (as a percentage). If you begin contributing to your pension at age 30, you divide that amount by two, which equals 15. This is the proportion of your pretax income that you should ideally be contributing to your pension fund up until retirement. For instance: 15% of your pay should go toward pension contributions if you are 30 years old.
It is against the law for your employer to purposefully delay making your contributions for a protracted period of time. Employers who violate the law face fines of up to 20,000 pesos or sentences of up to 12 years in jail.
